Do not wait for a crisis to begin trusting God. Learn to lean on Him intentionally every day.

One of my beloved brothers in Christ once told me, “Sin is simply not leaning on God.”

My immediate response was defensive: “Even if that is true, at least I am not doing it intentionally.”

But I later understood that not being intentional about trusting God can open the door to fear, temptation, and compromise.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.”

— Proverbs 3:5

Don’t Trade Your Birthright for the Moment

Esau did not plan to lose his birthright. But in a moment of hunger and weakness, he traded something valuable and lasting for temporary satisfaction.

“Thus Esau despised his birthright.”

— Genesis 25:34

My dear friends, we must remember that we are in a constant spiritual battle. When we neglect the armor of God, we leave ourselves vulnerable to attacks that can weaken our faith and cause us to surrender the authority, purpose, and inheritance God intended for us.

“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.”

— Ephesians 6:11

Stay Dressed for the Battle

Wearing the armor of God means living intentionally prepared. It means acknowledging that the battle is real and remaining ready to stand whenever we are needed.

A soldier who is not in position when expected may reveal that his attention is somewhere else. In the same way, when we are not spiritually ready, we may be following our own expectations instead of surrendering to God’s will.

“For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.”

— 1 Samuel 15:23

This does not mean that every mistake is witchcraft. It means that persistent rebellion places our will above God’s will. When we knowingly resist His direction, we begin cooperating with intentions that oppose Him.

God has given us free will, but our will must be surrendered to Him daily.

“You are slaves of the one whom you obey.”

— Romans 6:16

Let us not trade our spiritual inheritance for temporary comfort, fear, impatience, or personal desire.

Father, forgive me for the times I have leaned on my own understanding instead of trusting You. Help me recognize the spiritual battle and put on Your full armor each day.

Strengthen me to obey Your voice, protect the inheritance You have given me, and to remain faithful in every season.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
